Twin Lakes Food Bank (TLFB)
Volunteer Terms & Conditions/Code of Conduct

As a TLFB volunteer, you agree to the following:

       1.  Accept and follow direction from TLFB staff and/or assigned volunteer          leads and perform duties as assigned. Your duties may change at any           time. Report possible hazards or unsafe activities to staff.

2.      Treat all people with courtesy, respect, and dignity.

3.      Arrive on time and help organize and supply your assigned volunteer area before TLFB opens to serve guests.

4.      Schedule your shifts in advance, arrive on time and give notice upon cancellation.

5.      Sign in and sign out when you volunteer.  Also, wear a name badge for easy identification.

6.      Twin Lakes Food Bank (TLFB) is a smoke-free, drug-free, and alcohol-free workplace. Anyone under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol will not be permitted to volunteer.

7.      All volunteers must dress appropriately; clothes must be clean, all volunteers must wear non-slip closed toe shoes (no high heels, sandals or flip-flops allowed).

8.      Please limit cell phone usage and step outside of work and food distribution areas to use your cell phone. Do not take pictures of TLFB guests or volunteers without their permission.

9.      If you have missed three scheduled shifts, you will be removed from all future scheduled shifts. You will need to contact the volunteer coordinator to reregister.

10.   Health and hygiene: If you are sick, do not volunteer. Proper hygiene is required as well as frequent hand washing. Hand washing should be done prior to and between food handling, after coffee or snack breaks, and when returning from the restroom.

11.   Be safe. Use proper lifting techniques, using your legs, not your back. Keep your back straight and body balanced. Do not lift and turn your body at the waist. Solicit the help of volunteers or staff to lift objects over 40 pounds. Ask for help when you need it.

12.   Food or any product from TLFB may not be taken for volunteer consumption without permission. Unauthorized possession of food will be considered stealing and will lead to immediate discontinuation of volunteering. See staff on how to sign up and acquire food from TLFB appropriately as a guest.

13.   No forms of harassment will be tolerated. Report incidents immediately to staff.

14.   Volunteers must be at least 12 years old. Volunteers 12-16 may volunteer only when accompanied by an adult.  Anyone under 18 years of age must have parental consent.

15.   Smoking is not allowed in or outside of Twin Lakes Food Bank.  Volunteers may smoke in the Mt. Olive Church parking lot located across the street from the food bank.

16.   Eating and drinking must be done in designated areas only. No personal food items are allowed where food is being stored, packed, or distributed. All personal food items should be labeled and stored in the volunteer refrigerator, and any leftovers will be thrown away at the end of the week.

17.   All personal belongings should be left in your vehicle when possible. TLFB assumes no responsibility for damage or loss of personal property.  Lockers are available; please bring your own lock.

18.   TLFB reserves the right to terminate a volunteer when these terms and conditions are not being followed.

19.   All matters pertaining to food bank guests are considered strictly confidential. If you recognize someone as a recipient out in public, do not address them until they address your first.

20.   Any accidents or injuries must be reported immediately to staff. By creating a volunteer profile, you release Twin Lakes Food Bank from liability if you should injure yourself while volunteering at the food distribution facility, the garden, the off-site storage facility, and/or any location where you are representing TLFB as a volunteer.

21.   Court-ordered community service cannot be substituted for donations.
